Details: Ontario Bill 68 includes the most significant changes to the Professional Engineers Act for decades. Prominent among these changes is the repeal of the “Industrial Exception”. This exception to the existing requirements for licensure permits engineering work (as defined by the Act) to be undertaken by practitioners who do not hold a license, under certain specific conditions. These conditions apply principally to plant and equipment for manufacturing processes. The repeal of the exceptions may well have a considerable effect on Employers, professional engineers, those with technically-oriented employment and health and safety practitioners within manufacturing industry.
